Production Specialist (Keying)

Job Summary

The Production Specialist will work under the direct supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor.  Will work as part of a team having responsibility for the set up and operation of machines to cut and copy keys to meet business expectations. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • (15%)  Set up/Operate machines to cut and copy keys.
  • (15%)  Disassemble locks and replace tumblers, springs, and other parts.
  • (15%)  Lock and cylinder preparation, assemble and disassemble locks.
  • (15%)  Master keying function, pinning the key cylinder.
  • (10%)  Package finished products and prepare them for shipment, including labelling of product
  • (5%)  Maintain accurate records of company locks and keys.
  • (5%)  Read sales orders to understand customer requirements for keys and locks.
  • (5%)  Maintain, test and adjust equipment as necessary
  • (5%)  Observe and adhere to safety rules and practices.
  • (5%)  Test completed keys to verify conformance to specifications and examine completed work pieces for defects.
  • (5%)  Participate in weekly cycle counts and physical inventory.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Profile

  • HS Diploma or GED is required

 

Required Skills

  • 1-2 years experience in a manufacturing  or distribution environment is preferable.
  • Experience with small part assembly 
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination with the ability to handle small parts.
  • Prior experience operating a forklift a plus
  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.

Work Environment:

  • Working conditions are normal for a non-climate controlled warehouse environment.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, twisting, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
  • Must observe and adhere to all safety rules and practices, including PPE requirements.
